How these tenders are picked

Each one is a GeM bid whose bid document asks for no years of past experience, no minimum turnover and no past performance, or fully exempts startups or MSEs from the experience and turnover it asks. We read this from the bid document itself; always read the document before you bid, as buyers can add conditions of their own.

Bidding for the first time

  1. Register as a seller on GeM (gem.gov.in) with your PAN, GST and bank details.
  2. Get Udyam (MSME) registration, which is free and online at udyamregistration.gov.in: bids marked “MSEs exempt” are then open to you.
  3. A DPIIT-recognised startup (startupindia.gov.in) can bid where “Startups exempt” is shown.
  4. Check the EMD (bid security): MSEs and recognised startups are often exempt from it too; the bid document says.
  5. Start with small orders you can deliver on time: a good first record helps with every bid after.
