In short
- NTPC eProcurement runs at eprocurentpc.nic.in. NTPC owns the content and NIC built and hosts the site, so it works like every other NIC GePNIC portal.
- You can download NTPC tender documents free of cost. Any tender fee or EMD is shown on each tender's own page.
- To bid, enrol through Online Bidder Enrollment with an email ID, mobile number, PAN and a Class 3 DSC, then map the DSC. A new DSC can take up to 24 hours to be recognised.
- Tenders come from NTPC's power stations and offices and from NTPC Green Energy (NGEL): spares, repair works, services and solar plant items.
- Micro and small enterprises get EMD exemption and can match L1 if they are within 15%, for up to 25% of the order. This covers goods and services they make or provide, not works and not trading.
- The same portal shows Results of Tenders, Awards and a Debarment List.
NTPC, the central power PSU, buys spares, services and repair works for its power stations through its own e-tender website. This guide explains the NTPC eProcurement portal at eprocurentpc.nic.in: how to find NTPC tenders, register as a bidder, get set up as an NTPC vendor, submit a bid and check the result.
NTPC eProcurement portal: eprocurentpc.nic.in
The portal's title is "NTPC Limited eProcurement Portal". Its footer says the content is owned and maintained by NTPC Limited, and that the site was designed, developed and hosted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC). It runs on GePNIC, the same software as eprocure.gov.in and most state portals. If you have bid on any NIC portal, the menus will look the same.
The welcome text says the portal "enables the Tenderers to download the Tender Schedule free of cost and then submit the bids online through this portal". So reading and downloading an NTPC tender costs nothing.
The menus you will use most:
| Menu | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Active Tenders, Tenders by Closing Date | Every tender open for bids |
| Tenders by Location, Organisation, Classification | Tenders grouped by place, NTPC office or type of work |
| Corrigendum | Changes to dates, terms or documents |
| Tenders Status, Results of Tenders, Awards | What happened after bids closed |
| Cancelled/Retendered, Tenders in Archive | Dropped, re-issued and old tenders |
| Debarment List | Firms barred from NTPC tenders |
The home page also shows the 10 latest tenders and the 10 latest corrigenda.
What NTPC tenders are for
A look at the latest tenders on the portal shows the usual mix:
- Spares and equipment for running stations: inverter spares for an NGEL solar station, silo unloading spouts at Unchahar, power supply modules for a fan drive at Mouda, bearings for an intake pump at Kanti.
- Repair and maintenance works, such as repair and restoration of a bus duct at Vindhyachal.
- Support services, such as help with generator repair works at National Capital TPS.
- Renewable energy: NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) posts its tenders on the same portal, with references starting "NGEL".
NTPC is also one of the central agencies that run large renewable power auctions. Those follow their own bid documents and rules; our solar tenders guide explains how they work.
How to find NTPC tenders
- Open Active Tenders for the full list, or Tenders by Closing Date to see what closes soon.
- Filter by place or office. Tenders by Location groups tenders by where the work is. Tenders by Organisation groups them by NTPC office or station.
- Search by number. The home page has a search box for tender ID, title or reference number, and an Advanced Search.
- Read the reference number. References name the buying office, for example NTPC/Vindhyachal STPS/9900334648 or NTPC/National Capital TPS/9900334842. That tells you at a glance whether the work is near you.
- Watch the Corrigendum list. Many NTPC corrigenda only extend the bid closing date, but some change technical terms. Read every corrigendum for a tender you are bidding in.
Like other GePNIC portals, searches and document downloads ask you to type a CAPTCHA each time.
You can also see every live NTPC tender without logging in on GovtTenderHub's NTPC tenders page, with filters for state and deadline. The NTPC Limited organisation page gathers NTPC tenders from all the portals we read.
NTPC eProcurement registration
Bidder enrolment on eprocurentpc.nic.in follows the standard NIC process. An account on eprocure.gov.in or a state portal does not work here; you enrol separately, though you can use the same DSC.
What you need
- A Class 3 DSC (digital signature certificate) with a signing certificate, on a USB token with its driver installed. See the DSC for e-tender guide.
- An email ID that becomes your login ID. It can't be changed later.
- A mobile number, your firm's PAN, registered address, year of establishment and legal status, and your GST details.
- Your Udyam certificate if you are a micro or small enterprise.
Steps to enrol
- Click Online Bidder Enrollment on the home page.
- Choose your login ID and password. The login ID is your email. NIC's portals ask for a password of 8 to 32 characters. Add a correspondence email and mobile number.
- Fill in company details: company name (NIC's manual says this can't be changed later), registration number, address, bidder type, PAN, year of establishment, legal status and company category, such as "Micro Unit as per MSME".
- Add the contact person, type the CAPTCHA and click Submit.
- Log in and map your DSC. On the first login the portal asks you to enrol your DSC and add GST details. You become a valid bidder only after this step. One DSC can be mapped to one account only.
- Allow a day. A newly mapped DSC can take up to 24 hours to be recognised, so don't enrol on the closing day.
If you forget your password, use Generate / Forgot Password? on the login box. Our NIC bidder registration guide shows every screen in more detail.
NTPC vendor code and vendor registration
Enrolling on the portal lets you bid. Getting paid is a separate matter: NTPC keeps its own list of vendors with vendor codes.
- Vendor code. If you win and have no NTPC vendor code yet, NTPC sets one up before it can pay you. Your tender's "Instructions to Bidders" say what to send and by when; do it early, because bank and tax details take time to check.
- Supplier enlistment. For items NTPC buys again and again, check ntpc.co.in for any vendor enlistment notice and its documents, and apply only through the channel the notice names.
Open tenders say in their qualifying requirements who may bid. Under the Department of Expenditure's manuals, open tenders normally shouldn't require prior registration with the buyer. Our vendor empanelment guide explains the difference between enrolment, vendor registration and empanelment.
How to submit a bid on NTPC eProcurement
- Log in with your DSC, open Search Active Tenders, tick the tender and click Set Open Tender as Favorite. It moves to My Tenders.
- Read the tender page: payment mode, the covers (which document goes where), tender fee and EMD details, whether exemption is allowed, and the critical dates.
- Download the documents (NIT and work item documents, including the BOQ) and prepare your files in the formats asked.
- Click Proceed for Bid Submission. If you claim an EMD exemption, select Yes and upload the signed certificate. You can't change it after you click Confirm.
- Pay the fee and EMD where they apply. The portal has posted a "Bidder Manual for Online Payment of Tender related Fees", so read it before you pay. The CPPP guidelines advise paying online at least one day before closing.
- Encrypt and upload each cover with your DSC. If the price cover uses a BOQ Excel sheet, fill in only your name and rates, and never rename the file or the sheet.
- Click Freeze Bid Submission and print the acknowledgement with your bid ID.
You can resubmit before the deadline, and the latest upload replaces the old one. If you withdraw a bid, you can't bid in that tender again.
Tender fee, EMD and MSE benefits
- Tender documents are free to download from the portal.
- EMD (earnest money deposit) is set in each tender. Some tenders take it online; others ask for a bank guarantee or another instrument. Read the EMD section of the tender page. See EMD in tender.
- Performance security: the winner gives the security the contract asks for. MSEs are not exempt from it.
NTPC is a central PSU, so the Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises applies to its purchases of goods and services:
- Free tender sets and no EMD for MSEs, for the items they are registered for.
- Purchase preference: if an MSE quotes within L1 + 15%, it can supply up to 25% of the order by bringing its price down to L1.
- Udyam registration is needed to claim these.
- Not covered: traders and dealers, and works contracts such as civil or erection works.
Claim the exemption in the bid itself, as described in step 4 above. Our MSME benefits guide has the full rules.
NTPC tender results, awards and the debarment list
- Tenders Status shows the stage each tender has reached after closing.
- Results of Tenders and Awards show tenders whose outcome has been published.
- Cancelled/Retendered tells you if a tender was dropped or issued again. A re-tender is a second chance if you missed the first.
- Debarment List names firms barred from NTPC tenders. Check it before you take a sub-contract from, or form a partnership with, another firm.
Your own bids are under My Active Bids after you log in. The tender status guide explains what each stage means.
Help on the NTPC portal
The home page links to everything you need when something goes wrong:
- Help For Contractors, FAQ and the Bidders Manual Kit (NIC's manuals for enrolment and bidding).
- Information About DSC and Site compatibility, which tells you the browser and settings the portal needs.
- Guidelines for Hassle Free Bid Submission.
- Find My Nodal Officer, to look up the portal nodal officer for an NTPC office.
- Downloads and Announcements, for software and notices.
Common fixes from NIC's manuals: remove characters such as & # @ from file names if signing fails; wait 20 minutes if the portal says another user is logged in; and if money is debited but payment shows Failure, check Payment Verification and contact the helpdesk before closing.
Common questions
What is NTPC eProcurement?
It is NTPC's tender website at eprocurentpc.nic.in, built and hosted by NIC on its GePNIC software. NTPC offices and power stations, and NTPC Green Energy, publish their tenders there, and bidders download documents and submit bids online.
How do I register on eprocurentpc.nic.in?
Click Online Bidder Enrollment, use your email as the login ID, fill in your firm's details and submit. Then log in and map your Class 3 DSC and GST details. Allow up to 24 hours for a new DSC to be recognised.
Is there a fee to download NTPC tender documents?
No. The portal says tenderers can download the tender schedule free of cost. A tender may still have a tender fee or EMD, shown on its page.
Can I use my eprocure.gov.in login for NTPC tenders?
No. Each NIC portal keeps its own list of bidders, so you enrol again on eprocurentpc.nic.in. The same DSC can be enrolled on both.
Where can I see NTPC tender results?
On the portal, use Tenders Status, Results of Tenders and Awards. Your own bids appear under My Active Bids after you log in.
How can a small firm get NTPC work?
Start with spares, repair and service tenders at a power station near you, where the qualifying requirements are usually smaller. If you are a manufacturer or service provider registered on Udyam, claim the MSE benefits. You can set a daily tender alert for NTPC tenders in your state.
