In short
- You always bid on the official portal: GeM, a NIC eProcurement portal, IREPS, MSTC or a state's own system. No private website can take your bid or change a result.
- Tender aggregator websites collect notices from many portals so you can search once and get alerts. They help you find tenders, not submit them.
- Before you pay, check five things: which portals it covers, how fresh its listings are, what you can see for free, how alerts reach you, and the price with GST and refund terms.
- Free access differs a lot between sites. Some show full tender details free, some offer a short trial, and some charge per tender document. Some price by the month and others by the year, so compare what you would pay over 12 months, with GST.
- The best tender website in India for you is the one that covers the portals your buyers use, at a price you can keep paying.
People who search for the best tender website in India usually want one of two things: the official portal where they can bid, or a private website that brings tenders from many portals into one list. You need both. This guide covers the official portals first, then what tender aggregator sites do, a checklist for choosing one, and fair profiles of seven popular tender sites, including ours.
Official tender portals: where every bid goes
Government tenders in India are published and submitted on official portals. Whatever website you use to find a tender, you register, download the documents and submit your bid on the portal named in the tender notice. Here is the short tender portal list most bidders need:
| Portal | What it is for | Website |
|---|---|---|
| GeM | Goods and services bought by ministries, departments and CPSEs | gem.gov.in |
| GeM-CPPP | Central tender notices, corrigenda and awards | eprocure.gov.in/cppp |
| Central eProcurement (NIC) | E-tenders of central ministries and departments | eprocure.gov.in/eprocure/app |
| State NIC portals | E-tenders of most states, e.g. Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra | etender.up.nic.in, mahatenders.gov.in |
| IREPS | Indian Railways e-tenders, e-auctions and leasing | ireps.gov.in |
| MSTC | E-auctions (scrap, coal, minerals) and e-procurement | mstcecommerce.com |
| Other state systems | Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh | kppp.karnataka.gov.in, tender.telangana.gov.in, tender.apeprocurement.gov.in |
A few facts worth knowing:
- GeM calls itself the "National Public Procurement Portal". Its seller FAQ says "There are no charges or fee for getting registered", so nobody needs to pay a website to register you on GeM.
- GeM-CPPP is the Central Public Procurement Portal, run by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) with the Procurement Policy Division of the Department of Expenditure. It lists tenders, corrigenda (changes to a tender) and bid awards.
- The central eProcurement System (run by NIC) says bidders can "download the Tender Schedule free of cost and then submit the bids online through this portal". Any tender fee or EMD (earnest money deposit) the tender asks for is separate.
- IREPS covers Indian Railways' e-tenders for works, goods and services, plus e-auction sales and leasing. MSTC runs e-auctions for scrap, surplus stores, coal and mineral blocks, and an e-procurement platform with a common vendor base for the buyer organisations that use it.
Every portal has its own registration, and most need a Class 3 digital signature certificate (DSC) to bid. Searching them is free. The problem is that there are dozens of them. Our guide to government tender portals in India maps which buyers publish where.
What tender aggregator websites do
A tender aggregator (sometimes called a tender information service) reads notices from many official portals and puts them in one searchable list. Most offer some mix of:
- One search across GeM, CPPP, NIC portals and PSU portals, with filters for state, department, category or value.
- Alerts by email, and on some sites WhatsApp or SMS, when a new tender matches your keywords.
- Tender details and documents, sometimes free and sometimes behind a plan or a per-document fee.
- Extras such as past results, competitor analysis, bid preparation help, GeM registration help and DSC services, usually paid.
What they cannot do: issue tenders, accept bids, or influence who wins. Their copy of a tender can also lag behind the portal or miss a corrigendum, so always confirm the dates, EMD and documents on the official portal before you bid.
How to choose the best tender website in India: a checklist
Use these checks on any tender site, including ours. Most offer a free tier or trial, so test with your own searches before you pay.
- Coverage: does it read your buyers' portals? Ask for the list of portals, not just a big number. A railway supplier needs IREPS; a scrap buyer needs MSTC; a contractor in Karnataka needs KPPP. Claims like "2,000 sources" and "40 portals" can mean different things, because some sites count each department as a source.
- Freshness: how quickly do new tenders appear? Pick three tenders published today on your state portal and see if the site has them, with the correct closing date. Check whether it shows corrigenda and date extensions.
- Free access: what can you see without paying? Look at one tender page. Is the full title, buyer, tender ID, value, EMD and closing date there, or only part of it? Can you search freely, or are searches capped? Are documents included, or charged per tender?
- Alerts: how do they reach you? Email, WhatsApp or SMS; how many keywords, districts or states; what time they arrive; and whether alerts stop on a free account.
- Price and terms: what exactly are you paying? Check whether the price includes 18% GST or says "+ GST", whether it is per month, per year or per state, how many users it allows, whether it renews automatically, and what the refund policy says. Read the refund page before paying, not after.
- Extra services: do you need them? Bid consultancy, document preparation and GeM help can save time for a busy firm. They are optional, and none of them changes the rules of the tender.

Which tender website suits you
First-time MSE or small supplier
Start free. Register on GeM (no fee) and on your state's eProcurement portal, then use a free search to see what your local buyers ask for. One district or one state is usually enough at first. Pay for alerts only once you know which tenders you can win, and prefer monthly plans until you have bid a few times. The step-by-step guide to applying covers the documents and DSC you need.
GeM seller
GeM itself lists every GeM bid, so a tender site adds value by putting GeM next to the other portals and by making bid documents quicker to read. Check whether the site shows a bid's EMD, turnover and experience terms without opening the PDF. You can browse live GeM tenders free on GovtTenderHub, and our guide on how to read a GeM bid document explains each section.
Works contractor
Civil, electrical and road works are mostly on the NIC state portals, PMGSY and department systems, not GeM. You need district and value filters, corrigendum updates, and coverage of your state's own system if it is Karnataka, Telangana or Andhra Pradesh. Enrol on the portals you bid on; our NIC bidder registration guide shows how.
Large company or bid team
You probably need all-India coverage, several users, Excel exports, past results and competitor data, and maybe an API. Compare user limits and document limits, not just the headline price, and ask for a trial with your real keywords before signing a yearly contract.
Common questions
Which is the best website for government tenders in India?
For bidding, the official portal named in the tender: GeM, CPPP and the NIC portals, IREPS, MSTC or a state's own system. For finding tenders, an aggregator saves time; choose one that covers your buyers' portals, shows enough for free to judge a tender, and has clear prices. You can search all live tenders on GovtTenderHub free to see if it fits your work.
Is TenderKart free?
Check TenderKart's own website for what is free and what its plans cost. This guide lists only the prices we could confirm on each company's own site, and free features on tender sites change often. Whatever site you use, look at a full tender page before you pay.
Is BidAssist free?
BidAssist gives new users a 3-day free trial. After that, its FAQ says a free account has capped monthly searches, paused daily alerts and a ₹299 fee per tender document. Its paid plans start at ₹3,000 a year for one state, as its pricing page showed in October 2026.
Are tender websites legit and safe to pay?
The established ones are real businesses selling information and services, but none of them is a government body. Pay only after checking the price with GST, renewal and refund terms, and get a GST invoice. Be wary of anyone who asks for a fee to "register" you on GeM, which is free, or promises to guarantee a tender.
Which website shows tenders from all states?
No single official portal lists every state's own tenders, because most states run their own portal. Aggregators bring many state portals into one list, so check which states each one covers. GovtTenderHub covers every state NIC portal, Karnataka, Rajasthan and West Bengal's own portals, and the central and PSU portals; for Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Telangana, also check the state's own portal directly. You can also set daily tender alerts for the states you work in, with plans on the pricing page.
Can I submit a bid through a tender website?
No. Tender aggregator websites only show and track tenders. You submit your bid, with your DSC, on the official portal named in the tender, and that is also where you see the official result.
